The Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyer has said that in the past few months, the Council has seen an extreme escalation in the numbers of unclaimed corpses lying on the street many of which are Kush victims.

Yvonne Aki-Sawyer made the disclosure at a round table discussion with youths, on the way forward to address the Kush epidemic.

The Mayor of Freetown added that many of the unclaimed corpses were youths which they have been receiving countless calls from youth leaders and parents of Kush victims for them to respond to the national crisis.

Yvonne Aki-Sawyer noted that their engagement with committed youths and other local stakeholders was to further collaborate and map-out possible ways to address the Kush Pandemic in the city.

Ideas from the roundtable discussion she disclosed will be included in the “Say No To Kush Intervention Plan” of the Freetown City Council’s for further actions.
