First Lady Fatima Maada Bio has provided financial and administrative support to the female advocacy group known as Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) as well as full tuition scholarships to seventeen (17) members of WIMSAL. The donations were made on behalf of the newly registered INGO, the 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐎𝐟𝐟 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 (𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐆) 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and they are part of HOOG Foundation's initiatives aimed at supporting girls and women to reach their full potentials.
In this case, the HOOG Foundation is enhancing WIMSAL itself as well as the 17 female media practitioners who have now benefited from fully funded tuition scholarships to pursue various tertiary educational opportunities.
In addition to the scholarships, First Lady Fatima Maada Bio donated 80 million Leones to be applied towards paying for an office space for WIMSAL thus demonstrating her commitment to empowering diverse women in the media sector in Sierra Leone. This gesture was particularly significant, as it addressed a longstanding challenge faced by the organisation.
